Portuguese genius producer Humberto Matias aka Social Disco Club keeps dropping astonishing productions. “Lilt” is a funky/deep/house track, which belongs to his recent EP “Unknown Sea” released today via his own label Hands Of Time. I’ve been listening to Mirror People, since ever. He has an incredible career, full of parallel projects that he keeps feeding and never and “goes out of style”!

Born in Oporto Rui Maia has been one of the “Chameleons” of the Portuguese and international scene. I can assure he can play almost any kind of music genre you want. Besides producing has Mirror People, he has been involved in other projects such as “X-Wife“, “We Trust” and he also worked in some tracks with Social Disco Club… this guy never stops….

Deeply influenced by the music of Joy Division, Love or even David Bowie, he starts to play drums and later he discovers the synthesizer. In my personal opinion it is the perfect “toy” for Rui. I’m sure i’m not the only one thinking like this! In 2009 he starts to produce his own solo material. First under his own name, he releases “Cantonese Man” and a little bit later as “Mirror People”. Randomly thinking i quickly remember tracks like (Youtube links) “The Heart Of The Sun“, “Never Coming Back“, or even “Reaction“. He has also remixed names such has Jacques Renault, Social Disco Club, Mode, Pelifics, Cosmonaut Grecko and many more…. I almost forgot his remixes, which i love the one he made for Terminal Twilight but also the bomb he remixes for Mario Basanov! Are you more… “clarified”?!?

All projects Rui’s involved you can feel his touch and obviously you understand why he is everywhere. If you have been following him, you know his “hands” are all over these projects i have just mentioned. I have already posted his mixtapes, but i think this EP deserves our totally attention, In fact i was looking for an excuse to write about this great producer. I guess we will spend a lot of time listening to this new work without stopping. The exciting vocals by Rowetta gives an extra touch of sensuality taking us back a few years, maybe touching “Blind” from Hercules & Love Affair. I would say it may have some DFA influences in it including the vocals, sounding very late 90′s disco, which is obviously a natural result of Rui’s influences, however it brings something else… and that’s where Mirror People takes this track into another dimension, giving a touch of modernity and extra sensuality. We could say this is just another track, but it isn’t. Gives me the impression we have here a “hit” almost in the end of the year. Another idea i take from this EP is that it can become some kind of epic stuff, probably you can listen to this in two years and it will always sound fresh and new.

Besides the original track, this pack comes also with remixes by Moullinex, Munk, Social Disco Club and Severino (Horse Meat Disco). We can just assume this a golden EP! All these remixes are pure bombs. I guess it’s not necessary to make any kind of presentation here facing the names i just mentioned. This is one of the best works of 2011, which i highly recommend! This release is already available since November 11th and you can buy it on Beatport!

This one is pure gold. It’s so hard to choose between so many good mixtapes around the world. Sometimes i feel bad to leave a lot of people i really dig, but i need to choose. I have decided to choose according to my state of mind. Lately i have been listening to a lot of Nu Disco and Re-edits. We are planning to make some changes about the de design and functionality of the blog. I hope i will be able to blog more mixtapes, because sometimes it’s not even necessary to talk about the producer. For example, in this pack only Capablanca & T.Keeler is new around here…..

Starting with The Magician, like usual he brings a tape full of magic and exclusives! It’s always massive and there isn’t really a lot to tell. You just have to click and enjoy… soon we will find out what tracks he choose! For now we have already discovered some tracks….

Capablanca & T.Keeler is an awesome project that is captivating more and more everyday. This mixtape has some different sounds that my ears are not used to ear, but it also comes with some oldies that i just love. Again we see Gomma Records exploring several sub-genres on the electronic scene, which makes me very happy, because they are really one of my favorites.

Cassian is also starting to make monthly mixtapes. I’m really enjoying to this awesome mix! Just like the magician they have some exclusives, but they like to share the names behind their mixes. I’m a big fan of Cassian and one day i hope to listen to them alive. Sometimes i hate so much to live in an island where nothing happens…

Midnight Savari have been quiet for a while. To break this silence there you have a very nice minimix. I must be honest and confess that prefer minimixes. In my opinion they are more intensive and you don’t get bored because sometimes regular tapes are too long. Above everything, i love Midnight Savari!!!

Finally Humberto Matias aka Social Disco Club is coming with another “Hot In Here” session. For this guy it’s summer all year. This is just another massive mixtape for your pleasure. You know…. the Portuguese feeling! From now on i’m also going to give you some freebies just to bring more magic to these packs.

Discotexas is coming out with another massive release, with massive remixes, from massive producers!!!

KAMP! is formed by the Polish electronic trio from the city of Lodz. Their music is frequently tagged as melodic synth-pop influenced by 80′s new wave, 70′s krautrock and 90′s french house genres. For me it’s just smooth music to make love on the beach illuminated by the moonlight…

In 2009 they release their first EP called “Thales One” by a net label (www.brennnessel.pl) founded and managed by the memebers of the band. After the huge impact and good reviews by the critics they kept feeding our ears with “Breaking A Ghost” sounding very vintage disco and it was also very well received by everyone. In the meanwhile they were playing everywhere and creating a “monster”. After playing in big national festivals they kept spreading their love in countries such as Germany, France, China and many others! Or we can just say they were all over the globe.

Back to studio, in 2010 they released their last single “Heats”. For many blogs and critics, it was acclaimed as the best second single of 2010! If Golden Scissors was already alive last year, probably it would also be one of the best tracks of the year, however it’s always very difficult to say it’s second best or third… Since then KAMP! shared the spotlight with names such as Caribou, Goldfrapp, M83, Black Lips or even Joakim & the Disco!

Here we are in the Summer of 2011 and KAMP! strikes us back with “Cairo”! This time under the Portuguese label D.I.S.C.O Texas. To be honest it’s really hard to tell if this is the best EP of the year, but i’m pretty sure it has been shacking the world since we have these streamings. Besides the original, this release comes with superb remixes from JBAG, Moullinex and Social Disco Club. After listening to these tracks, it’s really hard to tell which one is my favorite. It would be so unfair to say i prefer this one or that one. The best thing is tobuy them all and listen on repeat mode. Let’s wait until September 9th for D.I.S.C.O.Texas to drop another bomb…..

From in Oporto, Portugal, Humberto Matias is the man behind Social Disco Club. Obviously for me it’s an honour do dedicate him some lines. In fact, i have been thinking about this post for a long time already. I’m always waiting for the right moment to write this. Well, seems the day arrived:)

Probably everyone already knows this story. Anyway, here we go…. everything started more or less in 2007 when Humberto’s created his personal blog http://www.socialdiscoclub.blogspot.com/. This platform was his “road” for him to show his real honest passion for disco. Sometimes there was so many visitors, that his blog used to crash all the time. Can you imagine? I hope one day Golden Scissors crashes too!

Back to our story …. with all this booster, it was just a small step for the vinyl reality, including two releases for the monster Mindless Boogie. Social Disco Club quickly got respect from people like Aeroplane, Foolix Felix, Ray Mang, Pete Herbert or Faze Action. How awesome is that…?

We are already in 2011 and i assure you that Social Disco Club is known all over the Globe. His has already made collaborations with people like Greg Wilson, Mirror People, Diskjokke and more recently with Munk or Mario Bazanov. “Respect” is the correct word i can find to describe Mr. Humberto Matias….

Saturday…. i feel like i want to listen something very chill and Nu Disco. I’m preparing to bang tonight! On my dj set…s usually i start it very slow… and i finish very HARD! I just love to feel people “climbing the mountain” with me! Someday when i’m famous, or not, you will climb it with me, AH AH AH !!!
Anyway, i brought a box full of tracks. I know you love these packs, so do i. It’s just press & play… sometimes we stop it and start looking for that track that really touched ourselves

Our pack for today is mainly Nu disco and the last one goes a bit harder… almost like the mountain i will create on my Dj set for tonight. We will start with the latest mixtape from Aeroplane. I believe it’s  unnecessary to say anything else about this dude. My love for Belgians it’s not new for anyone. Cosmonauts is the next one. This mix is so sweet… unfortunately i don’t have the track list, which makes a good way for you to enjoy this trip without caring too much about names, just like The Magician does.
The third one comes directly from Portugal (like me). Humberto Matias aka Social Disco Club is not just another dude. He his HUGE! He has been taking our country’s name with him all over the world. It’s a big honor for me to post this perfect and delicate mixtape. This tape was made for a radio station called Pure FM. They only play Nu Disco, and this time Social Disco Club was the man to show why Portugal and the rest of the world loves him!
Finally from France, Thony Ritz comes to shake things around here. His french touch and good taste in still intact. You know i’m a disco boy! I had to post this one full of mega tracks with an awesome intro.
