Belgian maestro, Moonlight Matters, strikes back with a new remix! While we keep waiting for his new material, he keeps teasing us with excellent remixes. This time he’s reworking his fellow countryman Goose for the single “Real,” which is taken from his forthcoming full-length “Control Control Control.” Per usual, Sebastiaan Vandevoorde’s remixes are always different and unique. This time we’re facing an orchestral approach, and the result  couldn’t be better. If you already heard the original single, you’re going to be surprised with this one. Our favorite Belgian producer of the moment is back with another massive remix! This time Sebaastian Vandervoorde is remixing Electric Guest’s “The Bait.” It’s common to see producers remixing big names in order to get hype. Moonlight Matters is definitely not one of those producers. In January he dropped a remix of Owlle’s “Disorder.” With all respect for the lady (I honestly love her) but in this case it was the Belgian producer who gave all the hype to the French artist, which easily reached Hypem’s most popular tracks. You’re probably thinking I’m being sensationalist, but the truth is that we have to define some patterns in order to understand the remix “disease” we’re facing nowadays. Again Seba’s remakes the all original. Again he doesn’t take the essence of it. The true ability of the Belgian producer is to make you dance without sounding too “loud” or too “poppish.” 122.05 bpms are more than enough to head you to the dance floor. He completely rewashes the track by adding his synth-magical touch. It doesn’t always sound the same. If you check his previous remixes you will notice that Moonlight Matters keeps upgrading his music. He’s a workaholic, but the results are amazing! Small appointments to take here: around 00:33 there’s a sneaky built followed by a moment of “windy” sounds. Precisely at 01:04 there’s a change of rythm with some cool and classy claps, and right after that you have the vocal and after that the claps are back together with an hypnotic synth-line. There’s also another interesting aspect about this remix. If you notice Seba doesn’t repeat the previous compass he wrote. After the first drop, he always manages to rebuild a second part that always sounds epic to my ears. Once again, brilliant! Moonlight Matters definitely matters.

Yesterday while chatting with a friend on Facebook he told me that he thought that Moonlight Matters was a project belonging from several people. When I told him that there’s only one person behind these incredible productions, he couldn’t believe it. I’ve previous referred myself about Seba’s as a genius. You might think that I’m exaggerating, but I truly believe that he his genius. I believe that it’s not just people who produce classical music, should be considered as a genius. Moonlight Matters has been constantly proving that his music is clearly a step forward from everyone else. Not just in terms of quality, but also when we talk about creativity. For example, I know that for a lot of people his remixes for Adele and Lana Del Rey are the only ones that can actually be heard without sounding too “poppish.” Well, that’s how much we love here! Here’s a new mix featuring a upcoming original single called “Rock,” to be released soon via his own label called Players. Belgian disco king Sebastiaan Vandervoorde, a.k.a Moonlight Matters, is finally back with another mesmerizing piece! Sebastiaan is one of the most talented producers we’ve blogged here at Golden Scissors and we’re lucky enough to have been following his musical trajectory for the last couple of years. It’s almost impossible to stay indifferent to his remixes, as well as his original material. Seba’s music always denotes creativity and evolution in alliance with an extremely solid production. It’s very easy to fall in love with the magical touch of Moonlight Matters – believe me, this guy is a genius! This time we have a remix of his for the French singer (we’re in love with her) Owlle‘s “Discorder.” Before posting this remix, I’ve been listening to the original song a couple of times, and it is a magnificent synthpop dreamy piece. You should definitely listen to it here. The remix is completely different from the original and you can feel that the Belgian producer has been working hard lately. You can definitely hear that there’s been an upgrade to Seba’s touch! He doesn’t even change the vocal from the original, mainly because this lady’s voice is stunning! The instrumental arrangement is where you can feel his geniality all over this track.. 115 bmp’s is more than enough for heading to the dance floor, but at some point it seems like it changes to 126, but always with a melodic, deep feeling and there’s no place for repetition here. Fact. The track starts creating some anxiety until 00:33, where everything changes, giving the impression that it was produced in parts. Day/night/day/­night. At 1:06, the vocals enter and that’s where everything changes, again! Beautiful vocals alongside more sounds that, honestly, I don’t even know how to describe. The synth line is a constant during the whole track. There’s a whirl of emotions during this track that calm down around 04:10. Moonlight Matters finishes his version with an epic build, and it keeps gently fading until the end. Ok, it’s time to repeat it, again, and again, and again….Truly impressive! It’s really… really difficult nowadays to make the difference, but with Seba you know it’s always magic and that’s why he is my favorite Belgian producer! Last broadcast of “Encontros imediatos” of 2011. João invited the Golden Crew to talk about our favorites. As you can imagine it’s not easy, but we have to choose someone. For about an hour we referenced a lot of good people. Besides our top we also mentioned artists such as Kicko, Loverboy, Moullinex and Xinobi, on the national scene. From the “exterior” we talked about KAMP!, Stardone, Muffin, Volta Bureau, Gold Panda, A Gap Between, Toro Y Moi, Neon Indian, Back2Funk, Justin Faust, Beth Ditto, Ham and Goldroom. Like usual, we also spoke about the blog and why we write about music and also how it has grown so fast. Well, 2011 was awesome! Can’t wait to see what’s coming….

This week is passing by so fast and i have seen so many cool mixtapes coming out, that i have decided to blog some. Again, there is no one new here. However, all theses guys are being very active lately. Everyone here is about to release something new, or have just released something new. It’s quite impressive the way they work and also with so many quality. I would love to write everyday about their stuff, but i have been so tired that i honestly need vacations, or i’m going to get crazy. I know i’m complaining all the time, but it’s true. I wanted to write this post yesterday, but i dying….
Anyway, the new collaborators that came here help, have been so nice and all of them have been shinning. Believe me, i’m not an easy person do deal with! I’m lucky with the people i choose to help me. They have been very patient and sometimes they have to deal with my personality. All their posts have been widely appreciated by the artists. All these things makes me feel very proud of them. I’m not going to cry… but i’m really proud of their work!

Starting with Moullinex, like usual he made an awesome tape. The thing here it’s not even his technique, which is always perfect. These guys never miss when we talk about this issue. The main thing here is that has putted together a lot of exclusive stuff, unreleased and also that will come out. Almost everything from DISCO Texas. I would love to have his hard disk. Can you imagine how many music he has on it? Can’t wait to hear his dj set in our golden party. It is going to be one of the best moments of the year for me. I say this because i never go out, it’s so sad….

Mirror People is driving me crazy. He has a new EP coming out on November. This mix starts with a remix by Munk which will be included on his new EP. He keeps pumping me with more awesome stuff i didn’t know. I’m very anxious to see what is going to be people’s reaction about his new work. This guy truly deserves all the best. He is one of the most talented musicians in our country which is Portugal (just in case). Another appointment, is the fact that this mixtape has only 49 minutes and it’s so cool that you will be listening to this on repeat mode for hours. I’m not a big fan of long mixtapes. If you read my previous posts you know what i’m talking about!

Cassian is also in this pack. I can’t get enough of their remix for the Nightriders. I’m very tempted to play it in Oporto. I know it has already came out a while ago, but it’s so addictive and so perfect, that when i listen to it, believe me or not, it always seems to be the first time. About this mixtape, there is a lot of tracks i haven’t heard before. I don’t know where these guys search for music, but i would be very happy do discover that. Such a great funky feeling all over the mix!

GREAT mixtape is what Moonlight Matters did for the Studio Brussel’s Switch/Playground. Everybody knows i’m his number one fan. I love they way he takes his mixtapes. Seba is one of those guys that doesn’t care at all if the track is new or old. He just feels the need to put some love and also his personal touch. In this mix you can hear Michael Jackson or even a classic Italo Disco. Believe me, this is so massive that i feel so little when i try to do a mixtape. Moonlight Matters will always be around here. He is not just another guy making music. He is a truly music lover. You can feel this in everything he does. All his remixes are massive and also all his mixtapes have a story to tell…

Finally, another curious work here from Punks Jump Up. I felt in love since i saw the title. These guys are so cool! They have made a mixtape just with 80′s classics. They ripped them from vinyl’s, edited and here you have the result. Can you imagine to hear this on a dj set in a disco? It’s like going back in time! This is the s***!

I could not let pass the opportunity to talk about this massive track and the remixes. Monarchy has been growing on me and seems they arrived to stay. Who says love songs can’t be remixed into astonishing tracks directly to the dancefloor? This new track is the sweetest song ever, but the remixes were made for the “girls”!

Formed by Edward Nigma and Peter Uzzle, Monarchy has been around my world since 2009. These guys who never show their faces while playing live have built a huge career in just 2 years. In the beginning it sounds a bit strange, but after a re-listen, their music get stuck on you and that’s when you go back and discover their awesome music, and obviously you will understand how did they have grown up so fast. The dark feeling they put on their tracks makes us feel intrigued about their “different” way of living in this new globalized music era.

About this new single, it is going to be released on October 24th on 100% Records. My priority was to talk about the remixes, but i have also falled in love for the original which comes with the beautiful voice of Britt Love and very well deserved participation. Back to the remixes, we have a HUGE one from Monlight Matters. I guess Seba gave this track another point of view. He took us directly into the 90′s where all star was pumping and we were more happy? Moonlight Matters in my opinion has been giving us so much good material that sometimes we don’t even have time to listen carefully his synths. Bondax have also made a very good job going more techno with some pinches of house. It is very different from what i’m used to listen! Finally we have Vivien, which i only know one track from her/he? This remix sound very pop and fresh. Really good job! All remixes are for free download. Don’t forget to show some love to all these artists. They really deserve it.

This is a late night post. I swear i was going to sleep when suddenly i “slipped” over with the new Moonlight Matters remix for Lo-Fi-Fnk. I must confess and admit that i really don’t know that much about this Swedish band (probably i should be shame of myself). One thing i’m sure. There aren’t too many artists making me jump of the bed on a Friday evening just to dedicate some lines about their work.

Like i said about the remix for Is Tropical, now i say the same about Lo-Fi-Fnk. These guys are so lucky to be remixed by Sebastian Vandervoorde. Like usual, Moonlight Matters makes magic! If you follow Seba’s work, you know exactly what i’m talking about. You can expect more shining music full of heart on it with those sweet synths that only Moonlight Matters knows. Probably I shouldn’t say this, but honestly i can’t see no one at the moment remixing with so many class and art like Seba is doing. For me he is one of the best producers at the moment on the electronic scene. Thank GOD he started with his solo project. This guy truly deserves the best!!!

I have been “spying” Moonlight Matters on his facebook and i know he his at the studio working on a track with Martin Dubka, and also doing remixes for Digitalism and Monarchy. Sebastiaan Vandervoode, Belgium musician also known as Moonlight Matters is certainly nowadays one of the most talented artists! After starting his solo career, has been pumping us every month with bombs…. automatically gives me a super smile.

In fact his is already working on his debut EP. We can just wait more shinning and happy music from Moonlight Matters. Also, last Friday he dropped an exclusive mix for ITM-FM. I thought it would be a goo idea to make reference to this mixtape, because it’s a masterpiece.

I have never heard Sebastiaan playing on a dj set, would love to. I heard this mix the entire week end. Starts very smooth growing with some indie dance, refined disco and funky touch, finishing with his latest remixes. You can also listen for the first time his remix for “Set Fire To The Rain” from Adele (my favorite by far….)
