French duo Justice, are back with good news! “Access All Arenas” is the title of their new live album to be released on May 6h, which you can already pre-order your copy on iTunes. The album was recorded live last year at Les Arènes de Nimes on July 19, and it comes with 13 tracks. If you already had the chance to go to their live shows, you know it’s an unique experience. They always deliver great mashups of their own material combined with a spectacular light show. If you’re fan of the duo you can’t miss this release. Remember how huge A-Trak‘s remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Heads Will Roll” was in 2009? You literally couldn’t stumble upon the internet or walk into a club without hearing it getting blasted into your cranium. Well folks, I think the NYC based producer has managed to do the same thing again; delivering a remix that will probably go onto define this year of music in a similar fashion as he did in 2009. Only this time, A-Trak has chosen  to alter one of Justice‘s songs “New Lands;” taking the original to new levels of electrified intensity I didn’t think were possible. No matter your taste in electronic music, I can guarantee that when you hear this for the first time, you’re going to be dancing your face off! Period!

Here’s the sweet remix from Video Village for Justice‘s “On’n On” which is already available since january 27th and you can buy it on iTunes. The EP also includes remixes from Erol Alkan, Tiga, Brodinski and Rick Rubin. Enjoy…!

I don’t know how did I miss this, but luckily someone recorded Justice live at Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Their performance includes tracks from “Cross” and from their latest album “Audio, Video, Disco”. Like usual… Epic stuff!

Here’s an excellent minimix from Justice to start the week rocking all over the place. I’ve listened already to it more than 5 times, it’s so GOOD! You will revisit bands such as AC/DC, RATM, Ennio Morricone to TOTO, John Carpenter and King Crimson. You can download it below the player. Amazing!!!

It’s all well and good to like this new breed of disco-synth-electronica that has been coming our way hard and fast, but how many times have you stopped to appreciate the sampled tracks that have inspired these modern day tunes?

I decided for my first post on Golden Scissors, I should start off with the roots of disco, and show all you scissoring fiends where the magic starts. The biggest tracks sample disco tunes, many of which you would know.

BUT before you get your keyboard warrior gear on and start ripping into me about not giving artists the credit they deserve, blah blah blah, shut the fuck up and continue reading. It takes a lot of hard work, a dreamy imagination and bucket loads of creativity to listen to a track and sample them correctly.

In my opinion sampling is recycling in it’s most beautiful of forms. It  just shows that music, if made well, will never be discarded, nor forgotten. It may once have been a song no one would have ever had listened to, but in 10, 20 even 30 years time, some budding musician might pick it up, find unutterable amazement in it and rebirth it.

I wasn’t totally aware of the immensity of sampling, because I’m a stupid girl. My hot boyfriend introduced me, and I feel like, to some extent, it’s grown my interest in music like a budding cancer.
