It’s not normal for us to feature this kind of sound around here. So where to start? I’m not even going to debate about the multitude of variations on electronic music and our main policy is that “if it’s good, we post”. This one stumbled upon us and we felt that we should share even though were not experts on this.
So, Ruede Hagelstein is a Berlin based producer making is way onto the city where techno rules, having his own residency at Watergate Club, releasing several original records and remixes since 2003. And after being feature in several compilations by some of the biggest labels like Kitsuné, Eskimonde, Ministry of Sound or EMI there’s really no need for a boost here. The simplicity of this post is as equal as the simplicity on the song. A simple beat, some synth play and a soothing and relaxing vocal with some vocoder on the mix. “Less is more” is the motto for minimalism and I think it works just perfectly in this case. So give it a good listen and maybe download it and listen on the way to work, I’m sure it’s perfect when your commuting.

Today i feel motivated to write about things i can’t buy (unfortunately)…

Dan Levy and Olivia Bouyssou Merilahti compose the french/finnish duo named “The Dø”. They both come from the classical branch of music and started working together in 2005, making music for cinema, dance and theatre. Still in 2005 “The Dø” released their fist EP which included “The Bridge is Broken”, but it was only in 2008 that the band released a full album of originals named “Mouthful” (Cinq/7 record label). The sublime voice of Olivia gathered with the extraordinary talent of the multi instrumentalist Dan Levy got France on “her” knees, taking the album directly to number 1 in music charts. The extensive use of different traditional instruments such as violins, piano, cello, trompets, contrabass mixed with electronic elements and with tribal like drums, makes it hard to place this band in a genre box but easy to fall in love with.

2011 is the sophmore year for “The Dø” and with it comes the amazing “Both Ways Open Jaws” a 13 cuts album released in March by Cinq/7. Still in August, i’m not afraid to personally place this work as one of the best 10 albums of the year. “The Dø” got even more exquisite in their production. This album it’s an anti boredom pill, being every track profoundly different from the previous but somehow composing an interesting continuum. It’s a mature work with more textures and melodic experimentalism in which Olivia’s voice shows up with more skins then ever. If “The Bridge is Broken” was the highlight of “Mouthfull” this time is hard to make a single choice. It’s a world in which you don’t want to loose a single moment. I could spend many more lines about the reasons why this album is on repeat inside these four walls…is it the urban tribal ritual of “Slippery Slope”? or maybe the Doors featuring Nina Persson feeling i get with “Gonna Be Sick!”? or even to know that while we dance “Bohemian Dances” nothing can go wrong? …well, i’m sure it’s all this and much more. To be honest i even like more the folkish elements then i previously expected!

As if it wasn’t enough of good music for a sole post, there’s more. Cinq/7 has just released a Remixes EP of “The Dø” with 3 tracks from Trentemoller, Vitalic and C-Berg…OMG! Is it Christmas already? This is just the cherry on top of the cake.
Vitalic takes “Slippery Slope” to another level with his electro touch, while Trentemoller picks “Too Insistent”, and as expected, made it even more kind to the heart, making one of the best songs of the year so far. C-Berg the swedish producer is well known by his work with names such as The Knife, Bjork, Fever Ray, Planningtorock and Florence and the Machine so one can’t expect less than another awesome remix, this time from the original “Dust it Off”.

NOW, can anyone explain me why the hell can’t i buy this EP?????? I won’t ever understand the reasons why digital music still has physical barriers…
I can only hope that someone from a lucky country offers me this EP for Christmas!

The Chillean techno producer that, has “infected”, for more then a decade the clicks’n’cuts aesthetics German techno with it’s warm genre blended notes, has returned to Chile to go on with his craft of putting South America in the annals of electronic genre. In 2010 Matias Aguayo made the world whisper Ay Ay Ay for a long time, i even have a couple of friends that bought ”Rollerskates” and they’re still using them … and still alive, for what matters!!!

Now Mr Aguayo is back, telling us “I don’t Smoke”, the new EP to be released on 6th June by Kompakt. It’s a 4 to 6 track EP about which we still know little. I wonder if it’s an EP of good habits that will keep Kompakt in good shape for the summer! With time i’ve learned to trust Matias with eyes closed and lungs full of nicotine and i’m sure that even if his message don’t work better then acupuncture for me on smoking matters, at least i’ll have my heart full and hips shaped.

Giving birth (yes men can do that sometimes) to Coméme Record Label, Matias and Gary Pimiento, are in for the big picture. Coméme is detonated by house, street, sex, South America, friendship, swing, cúmbia, magic, hip, feeling, techno, kwaito, night, Africa, love, dancing, traveling, parties and much more …put all that in a pot with salt, pepper and honey and you get an exquisite music production! Many are the artists in cooperation with this label but for the moment pay close attention to the latest releases that include Fredi Michel – “Enganami” (Broke remix) part of the “Chillean Pop” release and Diegors (Diego Morales) ”Sacàndose Uno” first solo EP.

” Enganami” -Broke Remix (original released in 2005) sounds as an elegant techno, blended with south American organic sounds, giving it a tasty latin twist that promises hip bouncing. On the other hand, ”Sacándose Uno” places it self on a more dark and rough context, still with plenty of groove and melody. It’s a true challenge to the old concept of latin techno tracks which is truly refreshing. I’d put some flash lights onto “Unga” track, that brings back the crispy hi-hats and the beloved cowbells in marriage with vocals that are low, distant and unintelligible enough to make me think of Santa Claus if he was an MC.

Let’s all take a flight to South America…shall we?

In 2008 i had a Turbo 58 (The Worm), in 2010 a Turbo 90 (ZZAfrika) and now i’m about to go to the drug store next door to buy some Prozac while waiting for the powerful Turbo 100 (ZZAfrika Remixes EP)! Who’s fault is it?????? WOO!!!

Florian Senfter (Zombie Nation) and Tiga are guilty for all these “tuning”. When they get together they form ZZT, a kind of Silver Power Ranger capable of making you “WOOO!!!” for a long time. ZZAfrika Remixes EP is coming out on 30th May (31st May Digital format), being the 100th release of Turbo Recordings. It’s a “must have”.
The 3*LP has 6 cuts while the Digital has 10 tracks including 4 exclusive. Names of the moment like Gesaffelstein, Julio Bashmore, Plein Soleil and Light Year + Finger Prince pull this amazing tune UP and UP!!! While Tomas Anderson returns Tiga the favor for “Washing Up” remix, Afrojack combines perfectly his name to the song (ZZAfrojack remix). There’s also space for some young blood with the participation of Crowdpleaser, Clouds and Sound of Stereo!

If you can’t get enough of WOOOOs then, the Proxy remix is the one for YOU!

In this release you have dirty electro, dirty house, dirty funk, dirty techno, dirty breakdowns, dirty ballad, dirty bass, dirty bongo… “DIRTY EVERYTHINGGGGG!!!” … and so much class!

Trentmoller is a giant of the electronic scene. There was a time that everyone new at least one or two tracks from this amazing producer. Although I have never played his music on my Dj sets, I totally respect his style and career.
His first album came out in 2006 and it was called “Last Resort”. I remember at that time, everyone was crazy about it and about Moan’s track.
Today I bring you his latest EP called “Shades of Marble”. It comes with remixes by KINK, Kasper Bjorke and he remixes himself.
I can’t tell which one is my favorite because they are all totally awesome. I hope you enjoy this as much I do, and don’t forget to buy this release on Beatport.

Guess i’ve never said before that it’s hard when i can’t find at least one good song everyday…like Guiness …a song a day puts the dog away ! Today i was loosing hope and was quitting on my digging but suddenly i found a gold stone. Found together Mix Hell (Original),Mumbai Science, In Flagranti and Gui Boratto, all in the same release. You won’t get surprised if i add the fact that it’s a Boys Noize Records release coming out today!!!!!!!!!

ANTIGALACTIC … goes from the true head banging style of MixHell to the more soft, still deep punching style of Gui Boratto. In the middle way you find the classy techno of Mumbai Science and of course the unique creative style of In Flagranti.

Every once in a while everyone goes down the memory lane, but not all add something new to it, or at least not as good as Nicolas Jaar did.
I don’t know what made me happier, if listening to this edit or discovering the original playing in the background while “Nico” was being interviewed… Won’t hide my special affection for Wendy René ‘s work, but it’s also true that Nicolas Jaar can’t do wrong. Well, at least sometimes “After Laughter comes Tears”, but i don’t think you’ll run out of Kleenex after listen to either version of this amazing tune.

Enjoy!

Poker Flat Recordings is alive more than ever. I can tell you that they putted together all stars in this compilation. I feel so proud to write about this because I grew up listening names like Steve Bug or Martin Landsky. I took an exert from their post:

“The album amasses an all star cast from across the board including the talents of Steve Bug, Martin Landsky, Clé, Redshape, Ribn, The Revenge, Deetron, Sasse, KiNK & Neville Watson and more. ‘Forward To The Past’ takes in many of todays rising talents alongside faithful veterans of the scene. It’s really a joy to hear how these top class producers, both vintage and modern, each add their own spin and re-interpret the sounds of the past. Complete with audiophile-approved analog tape mastering, and the highest production values around, its a wonderful tribute to the past, present and future of electronic music!”

As you can see it’s really great stuff. I took only music three previews but you can listen to everything here.
