We just came from Pitch Festival in Amsterdam and we are absolutely in love. We spent our weekend dancing like monday would never come, while enjoying the best feeling ever: pure happiness.
A music festival shouldn’t be only about music. After all, you are in a place where you can spend some time with your friends and basically enjoy life. The non-musical stuff in Pitch Festival is really impressive, starting with the festival’s place itself – the Cultuurpark Westergasfabriek, an old gas factory redeveloped as a cultural park. The live acts are performed in some of the established buildings and in stages set in the park, but you also have a huge chill-out area were everyone is just relaxing, having a drink and enjoying some good music. Oh and of course, the gorgeous people… The atmosphere in Pitch is contagious and feels like everyone shares the same love for dance music.
Anyhow, you can’t have a great music festival without some really good music. In this chapter, the two days Festival shows a straight line of thinking, with a well-established music genre – electro/dance music. In this year’s edition we were able to experience the Jamie XX’s amazingly constructed and solid gig, to dance two hours straight on Applescal’s late-night set and to put an ear on many other great artists like Simian mobile disco, Flume, Maribou State or James Blake. From all the great shows we had the pleasure to attend we have to highlight the great set Weval put up and no less impressive, John Talabot directed the crowd’s movements has he wished for two full hours.
So if you don’t miss a good dance music weekend and you just love the best atmosphere make sure you have a few days off in July 2016 and check out Pitch Festival Amsterdam. You won’t regret it!
