Over the last several years the Night Slug label has really defined itself as a progressive underground production factory of sounds. L-Vis 1990 (James Connolly), the CEO of Night Slugs, recently put out an amazing remix of Sade’s “Never Thought I’d see the day”, a track you should definitely check out.
Much in the same 80s/90s vein as what you would expect from Jensen Sportag, this “sunrise” edit of Sade’s original does a good job at not disturbing the original’s soft vocal touch. It does however provide the much needed depth and beat. Clicks, phasers and sweeps help to fill the empty space that existed, and this results in an immense sound with the presence of a classic such as Phill Colin’s Masterpiece. However, instead of a big drum solo, we are dropped into a traditional amen break rhythm; A light touch of Drum and Bass. It’s a superb track and will no doubt be on our playlists for some time to come.
