The new single from Dutch producer, David Douglas, has been on loop over here at Golden Scissors. After a first listen it might sound a little bit strange, but the truth is that it has some captivating sound textures that turns the piece into something truly obsessive. “Higher” is taken from his forthcoming full-length called “Moon Observations” due out during 2014 via Atomnation. If you listen carefully to the piece, you’ll eventually become addicted, specially for its superb catchy chords and dubby claps combining perfectly with the vocal sample, which results in an intense and esoteric atmosphere. While we wait for the new album, Atomnation is preparing a remix package to be dropped on January 27 featuring Throwing Snow, Mattheis and Weval. Give it a spin below and read David’s own words about the forthcoming release.
“Everyone is a moon, and everyone has a dark side he never shows to anybody. Since the dawn of mankind, we´ve been fascinated by the moon. The moon is cold and silent, shrouded in mystery. It´s pulling our dark sides. Lightning our blackest nights. Marking the times. We share the moon like we share madness, mystery and music. My new album -Moon Observations- is a musical search to the far side of the moon.”
