For some Christians, Sunday is observed as a day for worship of God and rest, due to the belief that it is Lord’s Day, the day of Christ’s resurrection. Sunday is a day of rest in most Western countries, part of ‘the weekend’. In some Muslim countries, Sunday is a normal working day and Friday is the day of rest, Muslims also go to jummah prayer. According to the Hebrew calendars and traditional Christian calendars, Sunday is the first day of the week. According to the International Organization for Standardization ISO 8601 Sunday is the seventh and last day of the week.
Here at Golden Scissors, Sunday is the day of the week where we pretend that we’re not listening to music, and we’re offline. The truth is that there’s always someone online, listening to something, or just searching for the next “thing.” Here in the Azores, during the Summer, Sunday is the day of the week where you can always attend to local festivities, festivals, or if you want something more chilled, you can always go to the beach, or even just walk through the nature.
The picture above is from Pico island, and it was taken by my good friend David Ross, who actually lived in another close island called São Jorge (where he actually took the photo). If you’re a nature lover, you should definitely take some time to know more about the Archipelago of the Azores. Well, after all these longs thoughts about Sunday, I hope you’re still reading our post! Just scroll down, and enjoy the 7th edition of our “Holy Sounday” series!
We’re starting off our holy set with a fine cover from our beloved TWOS of Shlohmo’s magical piece “Seriously.” The original single is taken from Shlohmo’s highly acclaimed album “Bad Vibes,” released back in 2011. TWOS interpretation totally respects the feeling of the original. Let’s say he only injects his own natural golden touch. 1 minute and 36 seconds of pure magic and elegance!
“Faded” is the result of a collaboration between N u a g e s (which we have previously featured on GS) with Icelandic singer Faerie (aka Bijou). We’ve been following both acts very close, and since we’re honest fans, we had to share this magnificent piece. Simple, quiet, smooth, and chilled….
We don’t know much about the producer behind the project called Kindred! We’re fairly enjoying some of his releases on soundcloud. “Little Things” is the latest single from the Melbourne native, which instantly called our attention especially for its main atmosphere, in conjunction with a delicious chopped vocal work. Besides this single, you can download for free Kindred’s latest “Flyro EP,” right here!
Here’s a cool and well percussioned remix from the 18-year-old-producer Patchley of James Deen’s track “Waterworld.” The original single is taken from Deen’s latest album “Transylvania” released yesterday, and you can buy it, right here. On the contrary, you can download for free download the entire remix package of the album, right here!
….And we’re closing our Holy Sounday of this week with a beautiful synth driven single titled “Oriente” featuring on vocal Juno. It’s actually the first time we’re featuring music from LIES, which is a project from italian duo Oscar and Piero. This track might sound completely different from all the others of our set, but we’re totally in love for its Summer vibe. Enjoy your Sunday in peace!
