To be honest, I don’t know much about Anthony Ellect except for the fact that he’s a producer who’s based out of Los Angeles, California. In fact, I’ve only known about his music for about 24 hours. Luckily though, I was fortunate enough to come across his latest single “While” when I was making my many rounds through soundcloud yesterday. Instantly taken back by the track’s atmosphere, Ellect’s sound strongly reminds me of artists such as xxyyxx and the numerous other producers that leading the way in creating a genre that really doesn’t have a name yet. Some people call it futurebeats, but I don’t think a generic title like that truly captures the raw emotion and evocative nature of songs like the one I present to you today. Powerfully romantic, overtly sexual, and exuding an otherworldly chill that I’ve never heard before, Anthony Ellect produces a sound that exemplifies why it’s so difficult to put labels on songs of this pedigree. I guess this is why the mysterious artist decided to simply genre-tag his masterpiece as “A Song.” I honestly can’t blame him.
