Golden Scissors

For those who don’t know xxyyxx, he is a 16-year-old producer (yeah, this sort of makes me feel like shit too) who specializes in making sounds reminiscent of his UK Garage contemporaries across the pond. So much so, some bloggers have mistakenly stated that the artist is from London. But just because he shares similarities with youthful producers like Disclosure and Bondax, it doesn’t necessarily mean his brand of Garage isn’t one of a kind. Part chillwave, part R&B, and part dub, xxyyxx dishes out a soulful blend of music that’s a refreshing mix between old and new forms of electronica.

To get a sense of what I’m talking about, check out his track titled “Good Enough,” which is off his self-titled album “XXYYXX.” Sampling TLC’s classic “No Scrubs,” xxyyxx constructs tranquil arrangements that feature somber notes from a piano which are accompanied by a gentle assortment of bass and two-step. If you couldn’t tell, I really like this guy a lot and think that everyone should give him a listen! Go check out his bandcamp by clicking on this link right here! There you will be able to download this album and many other tracks from this absurdly, talented kid.
