Golden Scissors

Everyone is talking about dubstep these days, but we’ve been observing that the Chicago’s house trend (so 90’s by the way), is gaining strength among producers lately. As every style that is back from the past, it comes with a renovated air, and that’s also the case of this week’s review. French house master Joakim invites us to join him in his ‘Labyrinth’, which has been tagged by his own label as weird house and that has become the latest single from his awesome “Nothing Gold“. His extended mix gets you completely immersed in that spirit, you feel lost and distress among those jungle walls but at the same time you eagerly want to get out of there. The result? A track with a sexy tempo and dark bassline that results smooth but intense at the same time, just as good sex…

Then comes our fav part, the remixes, it makes you realize of the different possibilities the original has, and on this occasion Junior Boys begin exploring its rhythms throughout a slowed down version but adding some more synths and claps, giving it some movement at the same time. However, we find more different visions on this ‘Labyrinth’, as Lone‘s, who decides going more melodic and somehow spacey-like with some chilled vibes which invites you to an atmospheric journey, so relaxing and perfect to escape from your daily routine!

The closing track is Stopmakingme & The Deadstock 33s’ remix, that announces that things are getting dirtier my friend; some enigmatic vocals and claps adding mystery and getting close to deep house, taking that addictive electro intensity to the club sound. In short, different reworks of a complex tune that may be too dense and absorbing for some of you, but that you can’t deny it doesn’t touch you in some way, as good music does.

‘Labyrinth’ is out now under Future Classic.
