Golden Scissors

This week our guest is L’ Equipe du Son, who maybe you have never heard of, but has really good material for you to discover. The (summarized) legend says that he was a Californian mild- mannered teenager who after being rejected from his highschool gym team, swears to himself that he will make the best music the world has ever heard. Then, while progaming, he was tempted to hack the government program that lead to an explosion to then discover that he has acquired some superhuman abilities and can digitize himself into the mainframes of his synthesizers and computer to really make the most awesome music.ep

But L’Equipe du Son is not a newcomer, with several EPs on his back, his identity is filled with disco-mood sounds that we can found on this one too. ‘What You Do To Me‘ is all about his beloved music genre whose rhythms you just cannot resist! The 3 -track release features the original, an extended version and a non- vocal one, so you must better take a listen to discover your fav version!

The original track begins with some shy vocals and pads to then seasoning it with some synths getting into the disco fever we all were expecting, kind of sexy. Think of Tony Manero buying a drink for a lady on flare pants under the disco ball light… and although it follows a lineal bassline, there’s no doubt it has lots of attitude! In contrast, in the extended mix we found that the pads gather strength and the melodies are more marked, reinforcing its boogie spirit. And to close the trilogy, the instrumental mix will make you dwell into the details and don’t even miss the vocals, showing us that a good instrumental version can also work if the notes are the right ones to let it flow.

L’Equipe du Son is currently working on his debut album “Supersonic” that will also contain this disco marvel and that’s due to April. You can get ‘What You Do To Me’ next Monday March 5th exclusively on Junodownload and on the 12th on the rest of digital retailers, what a better way to recall the weekend memories! Disco, disco, disco!
