In my constant search for new, different and rich sound experiences i usually surf around the web or the huge list of demos that artists send us in my free time hoping that something arouses my full attention. This week, i would like to highlight a search by my own, BobbyTank.
BobbyTank – Apollo Jest
I’ve been sneaking around his soundcloud for a while, like a “shy ninja“, listening to whatever he puts off. And must i say, he regularly delivers new stuff, always very well crafted. This London, Britain (UK) based producer knows how to play the game. He truly have his own style going on. Something that he defines as: “Rick James riding a flying unicorn along Orion’s belt whilst smoking a crack pipe.” The description could not be more singular. And that is the attribute that describes him the best. His unique musical approach gives Tank the full edge on this specific musical field. Aggressive mix of grooving 80’s funk and glitch heavy beats, you simply can’t tag his masterpieces. From “Shiny Feelings” to “Boogie Crystals” or even “Beverly Hills RoboCop“, only this Harrow man can give you a definition. For me? It’s damn good music. And that’s why i am sharing this with you.
Cleo Sol – Call 4 Me (BobbyTank ‘LoverGirl’ Refix)
BobbyTank greatest inspiration is Michael Jackson, whose dance moves he sought to imitate when he was 5. He firmly believes music’s greatest era was the 80’s. Yes, it was. At least in my opinion too. The way he blends funky basslines with acid and short synths, accompanied by smart melody construction is a delight to your ears. Just like hot melting chocolate in a cold day (and it is so cold here in Portugal). Good thing i had Tank’s music to get me warmed.
BobbyTank – Face of Love
With a couple of releases already, you can support him for following him on Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud, and most important, buy this guy some music. Vanquish EP and Nexus Moonburgers EP (What did i said? Even the EP name is so unique.) are now out for sale. I’ll leave you with a personal favourite, Questar. Just be sure to check the rest of his tracks on soundcloud and leave some love. He deserves it!
