Music brings to people different feelings, transporting each brain into a different reality and perspective. Obviously, there is music naturally “massive” to our ears, which we all agree it’s perfect. Masmöd’s music is somehow a personal perspective of his own world. Michael John is the person behind Masmöd, which has been already blogged here with his “main” project A Gap Between. It’s impossible to be indifferent to this talented producer. “Conscious Automata” EP is already his second release. It’s somehow a result of his experiences and influences. You can check the video above, which is just a small “clip” of Michael’s experience during a 3 day period, dated 2005, in Tokyo, Japan.
Seven years later, we can see the results of what he has been acquiring has a single human, according to his experiences. Can you imagine how much he worked to obtain this final result? According to Michael “I’m one of those people that, when I’m working on music, I can’t move past a sound until I’ve put it out to the public to consume and critique. At this point, Conscious Automata is no longer about what it means to me, but what the listener interprets from their listening experience. However, I suppose what inspired me to produce Conscious Automata was an overwhelming need to focus on emotional content and melody through a harmony of digital and organic experiences, versus my first release, Axiom, which was focused primarily on technique and abstract formula”.
Influenced by Burial, we can clearly feel it in this this side project. There is something in Masmöd that sounds different, emotional and somehow…. Epic! In the future we can expect a new EP, which one track will appear in Nueva Forma upcoming compilation, Social Club vol. 1.
